NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A formal complaint was filed Monday with Metro government calling for the removal of Criminal Court clerk David Torrence.
Activist and radio show host Carl Boyd Jr. filed the complaint, citing a provision of the Tennessee Constitution that court clerks can be removed from office for malfeasance, incompetency or neglect of duty.
It's the latest outcry following a Channel 4 I-Team investigation that found Torrence out of the office nearly half of last year and admitting he only works three days a week.
Last week, Torrence issued a public apology.
"It's not good enough for a person to apologize and stay in office," said Boyd. "But when this corruption is exposed, it should be dealt with, and he should be removed from office."
The complaint will now be passed on to Metro's Legal Department.
A Metro councilman has already filed a resolution calling for Torrence to resign or be ousted from office.
