Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK (WABC) -- Taxi and Limousine commissioner David Yassky is pressing state lawmakers to approve 6,000 more taxi medallions for the city's outer boroughs.
The new medallions reportedly would go to cabs designated solely for street hails in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx.
The Taxi Workers Alliance says it has no problem with the idea, as long as the city charges less for medallions in those four boroughs. (Copyright ©2011 WABC-TV/DT. All Rights Reserved.) Get more New York News »
