Slumlord conditions... What do we do? Okay, we rented a quaint little 1 bedroom apartment in Norman OK, we really loved it at first. it's pretty spacious and the price is decent, but now it's awful! We keep the A/C set at 68 and we're lucky if it dips below 78 (sometimes stays in the mid 80's!!!). The roof leaks in the bedroom and we've had ants twice. We keep a SPOTLESS house, I do dishes, laundry and cleaning constantly. I've made approximately 8 complaints about the A/C and they've came out here to 'fix' it each time, doing the same thing (cleaning it, filters and pretending to know what they're doing), but it is STILL broken! It's been approximately 2 months now and we can't keep living in 80 degree temps... They've 'fixed' the roof twice and it's leaking now, as we speak. If it rains really badly, a BUNCH of water (probably a gallon, at least half a gallon) comes into the front door and puddles up on the entry tile, they've 'fixed' that twice as well. The dishwasher is so bad it will only wash the bottom and won't even come close to washing the top rack, it's also very loud -- they've 'fixed' this twice, as well and the newest problem? There was approximately 6" of water standing under our apartment, they pumped it out today, or most of it anyhow, but only pumped it, did no repairs... so I assume it will return. I can also now smell musty odors when laying in bed (I assume due to the water that was setting under the house?)... We are still leased for an entire year... It's stressing us out SO bad... We shouldn't have to pay a thousand dollars a month to be hot, sweaty, wet and depressed! Is there anything we can do without having to pay $5000 to hire a lawyer? We can't afford that! Can we make them pay for the attorney and damages and actually fix this or move us or something!? anything?! Please help us!
