Would You Like to Blog for Teaching Tolerance?
Teaching Tolerance wants to expand its corps of bloggers. We are especially looking for teachers, administrators and school counselors who can reflect on day-to-day school experiences. Candidates should be familiar with the mission of Teaching Tolerance: To promote respect for differences and an appreciation of diversity in the classroom and beyond. For guidelines, please look here.

Teaching Tolerance a Partner in Play About Hate Music
Teaching Tolerance is serving as the educational partner for the new rock musical White Noise. It tells the story of white supremacist singers who find fame by cleverly masking their music's message. White Noise opens an eight-week limited engagement at the Royal George Theatre in Chicago on April 9. Teaching Tolerance and the show's producers wrote an educational guide for high school and college students, which will be released next week.

Win the Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence
Have you honed teaching techniques that reach students from diverse backgrounds? Tell us about them when you apply for the Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Culturally Responsive Teaching. Five educators who exhibit excellence in meeting the needs of diverse students will be honored with this award and will receive $1,000 apiece. Apply by June 1. This award is supported by a grant from the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership at Walden University.

Last Chance to Become a Mix It Up Model School
Does your school have what it takes to be a model for others? Mix It Up Model Schools "mix it up" all year long, embracing respect and diversity as core values. Help show other schools how it's done for the next national Mix It Up at Lunch Day on October 18. The deadline to apply as a model school is April 10.

Attend Our Professional Development Workshop on April 30
Teaching Tolerance, in partnership with the University of Montevallo College of Education and the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME), will be holding an intensive professional development symposium for teachers and administrators on April 30 in Montevallo, Ala.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Sexual assault is considered the most underreported violent crime in America, and its victims are overwhelmingly women. The Obama administration has kicked off Sexual Assault Awareness Month with a program designed to help schools and universities better understand their legal obligations when it comes to dealing with sexual assault.
